What type of craft do you use on river trips?
It depends, but most of the time we use 2 person canoes! The river can fluctuate day to day which will determine whether we use rafts, canoes, or kayaks.
What do you serve for meals on river trips?
We specialize in a variety of wholesome meals that include fresh veggies and fruit. For day trips, lunches consist of a picnic style lunch spread from wraps and cold cut sandwiches to salads and hot soup! For multi day trips, your guides will prepare meals in the field for a hot and fresh feast that can include steak, fish, roasted veggies, tacos and more! We can accommodate for special food allergies/restrictions.
Is it safe for children to come on river trips?
Short answer is yes! Different sections of the river are more mellow than others and can be safer for children to join. River levels can fluctuate which may change the section we run or our evaluation of what is safe for younger children. All children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. As a baseline we recommend your child be 5+ years old for one day trips and 8+ years old for multi day trips. Please give us a call and have our team discuss what trip option is best.
When is the best time of the year to float the Rio Grande?
Our company operates river trips from September- May. High water is typically available early in the boating season (September - October) while low water season occurs from November through May. There can be more options available earlier in the year when the river is higher, however daytime temperatures can still be in the 90’s. We continue to run river trips throughout the winter which can be a great alternative for those seeking cooler weather. Feel free to give us a call to discuss current river conditions!
What is your cancellation policy?
For one day trips we require a 20% nonrefundable deposit at the time of booking. Cancel 7 days or more for a refund of the remaining 80%. Cancellations made 6 days or less may forfeit the entire amount of your trip.
Multi day trips must cancel within 30 days or more to receive a refund of the remaining 80%.
* Special conditions might apply for large groups or private events
